For those of you who travel to Big Bear Lake, you know that Highway 38 is the most recommended road to use. The road has the fewest curves and offers beautiful scenery. However, automobiles and trucks are not the only vehicles that use it - bicyclists use it also.
The speed limit is 55 mph and bikes cannot go that fast. There used to be signs at the bottom of the hill that read, "Pedestrians, Bicycles, Motorized Bicycles, Non-Motorized Traffic is Prohibited." After a forest fire years ago, the signs were removed and never replaced. This makes for a dangerous situation when there are bikes riding along the highway and cars stuck behind them.
Common sense says that a vehicle that cannot go as fast as the speed limit should not be allowed on a single lane highway. Until that is changed, I hope those of you on that road will take a deep breathe and be patient for the bikers - learn how to share the road!
