A bicyclist, was killed by a hit-and-run driver recently. However, the driver left a trail of car fluid which led police to a Jack-in-the-Box restaurant close by. After looking at the Jack-in-the Box video, police were able to identify him through his license plate number and the damage on his vehicle.
The City of Barstow is considering a mandatory spay-and-neuter law in accordance with its vicious dog ordinances. On August 13, San Bernardino County began to enforce a spay-and-neuter law for pit bulls, one of the most vicious breed of dogs. Barstow city officials are discussing whether this law should apply to all dog breeds or just remain with pit bulls. The City of Yucaipa has passed similar laws.
A 79-year old man of Montclair was killed in an accident on the 40 Freeway near Barstow recently. The man was a passenger in an SUV when a tire lost tread making the automobile swerve off the road, causing it to roll numerous times. There were five other people in the vehicle, all injured.
A one-year old girl, was playing in front of her home in Phelan the other evening when a Toyota truck struck her. She was taken by helicopter to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead.
A 45-year old woman, was crossing the main highway in the desert community of Morongo Valley when she was hit by a car. Paramedics called to the scene pronounced her dead.
