According to Victorville Police, a man making an unsafe left turn caused the death of a 35-year old motorcyclist recently. The driver turned in the path of the motorcycle; the motorcyclist was thrown from his bike and died at the scene.
According to California Vehicle Code Section 21804(a), "The driver of any vehicle about to enter or cross a highway from any public or private property, or from an alley, shall yield the right-of-way to all traffic." The law requires all drivers to exercise care and caution before making a left turn on a major road.
Statistics show that three people were killed in recent years in motorcycle accidents. The accident is under investigation. If it turns out that the driver was at fault, he or she can be held liable for the motorcyclist's wrongful death.
I urge the family of the motorcyclist to contact an experienced San Bernardino Personal Injury Attorney to determine if they can file a wrongful death claim for compensation of their loss and expenses.
