Four young adults traveling on the eastbound Interstate 10 were killed early the other morning when the BMW they were in overturned and slammed into a freeway post. The vehicle was transitioning onto the northbound Interstate 215 when it hit the pole. A California Highway Patrol officer said the car "was almost sheared in half, wrapped around the pole."
The driver and his three passengers ranged in age from 20 to 24; they died at the scene. The cause of the crash is under investigation. Officers are trying to determine where the individuals were before the accident - if perhaps they had been drinking. It has been stated that the driver was transitioning onto the 215 Freeway at more than 65 mph when the posted speed is 50 mph. The driver was in the ramp's fast lane when he lost control. It appears that only the driver was wearing a seat belt.
