A 40-year old Hesperia man riding his motorcycle in the early evening hours near Interstate 215 in Colton collided with a utility truck.
Reports indicate that the motorcyclist was attempting to pass the truck on the right when the accident took place. He was run over by the front and back wheels. The man was taken to a nearby hospital where he died less than an hour later.
There is always potential for conflict whenever a vehicle passes another, especially when one of the vehicles is a motorcycle. It's something motorists do routinely and rarely think twice about it. California Vehicle Code Section 21754 states in part, "The driver of a vehicle may overtake and pass to the right of another vehicle only when the vehicle overtaken is making or about to make a left turn or on a one-way street."
The accident is under investigation to determine what happened and who was at fault. Was the truck making a left turn?
I urge them to contact an experienced San Bernardino Personal Injury attorney who can investigate further for them and determine if they are entitled to compensation for their loss and expenses.
