The Apple Valley Sheriff's department reported that a 17-year old boy on a skateboard was hit by a pickup truck the other night, causing him serious injuries.
Why he was riding down the center of a main street after dark, no one knows. Adding to the question is why he was wearing dark clothing. The driver was unable to see him until he was upon him and then it was too late to avoid hitting him.
The boy was taken by air to Loma Linda University Medical Center to treat his injuries.
Officers are investigating the incident to determine the details of the case. They are asking anyone with information to call the Major Accident Investigation Team at 760-240-7400.
Just a reminder - it is essential for pedestrians to wear light-colored clothing when they are walking, riding a bike or skateboard after dark. Also, doing any of these activities in the middle of the road is dangerous.
