Recently the Government Accountability Office released a report discussing the problems associated with auto defectrecalls.
The report indicated that recall notifications use a language that confuses the consumer, causing some to not bring their car in for inspection. It suggests that the NHTSA put this information on their website for easy reading and access to the consumer.
Statistics indicate that in 2010 there were more auto defect recalls than ever before. The large number was due mostly to Toyota recalling millions of vehicles for sticky gas pedals and faulty floor mats that caused sudden acceleration. Other defects, including tire problems, have been found.
