A 68-year old woman suspected of driving under the influence was arrested after she hit a 17-year old boy and 16-year old girl who were walking on the shoulder of the road. The girl sustained major injuries and the boy suffered only minor injuries.
California law prohibits any driver to operate a motor vehicle when their blood alcohol concentration is 0.08% or higher. According to California Vehicle Code Section 23152(a), "It is unlawful for any person who is under the influence of any alcoholic beverage or drug, or under the combined influence of any alcoholic beverage and drug, to drive a vehicle."
