Two vehicles collided head-on when a 29-year old man hit an oily patch of road, causing him to loses control and crash into the second vehicle driven by a 47-year old man.
According to Caltrans crews, about five miles of Highway 18 was closed for approximately five hours while they cleaned up spills along the road. They believe the oil-like substance leaked from a vehicle.
The 29-year old was taken by air to a nearby hospital and treated for his injuries; the other was treated and released.
