A 22-year old Victorville man was struck the other night by, not one, but several cars.
The young man was crossing Highway 18 in Apple Valley when several vehicles heading west crashed into him, causing the highway to be closed for several hours.
According to the San Bernardino Coroner's office, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Reports indicate that a second man was taken to a nearby hospital with injuries. However, it is unclear if the two men were walking together.
According to California Vehicle Code Section 21956 (b), "A pedestrian may walk close to his or her right-hand edge of the roadway if a crosswalk or other means of safely crossing the roadway is not available or if existing traffic or other conditions would compromise the safety of a pedestrian attempting to cross the road."
The sheriff's Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating the fatal accident. If you or a family member is injured while attempting to cross a roadway, contact an experienced San Bernardino Personal Injury attorney who can investigate your case to determine if you are entitled to compensation for your injuries and accident-related expenses.
