A 37-year old woman died the other morning when a driver of a big-rig tractor trailer, for unknown reasons, collided with the mountainside as he approached a curve in the road, causing the trailer's gravel box to separate from the trailer frame. The box came to a stop on the opposite side of the road, hitting an SUV driven by the 37-year old woman.
The big-rig driver was not injured; however, the woman in the SUV was taken to a nearby hospital where she died from her injuries. Her 16-year old daughter, who was a passenger in the SUV, was injured and taken to another hospital for treatment.
California Highway Patrol officials are investigating the accident to determine the cause.
They are checking a number of possible causes which include speeding, road conditions, falling asleep at the wheel or just plain negligence on his part.
It would be wise for the family of the victim to contact an experienced San Bernardino Personal Injury attorney regarding her legal rights and the possibility of filing a wrongful death lawsuit.
