Three young brothers, ages 13, 11 and 6, were heading to school in Hesperia the other morning when a car struck them while in a crosswalk.
Several other vehicles stopped to help the boys. The driver, who hit them, said he did not see them in the crosswalk. The boys were seriously injured and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The driver was not injured.
California Vehicle Code Section 21950(a) states, "The driver of a vehicle shall yield the right-of-way to a pedestrian crossing the roadway within any marked crosswalk or within any unmarked crosswalk at an intersection."
Sheriff's officials are investigating the accident and have ruled out alcohol and/or drugs as a contributing factor.
