A vehicle carrying seven passengers, including two young boys, ages 10 and 9, spun out of control and overturned after colliding with another vehicle.
Reports indicate that the 10-year old was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown onto the freeway. The other boy was wearing one and was partially ejected. Both boys were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The other passengers were taken to a local hospital to be checked, and the driver of the other vehicle, a 24-year old woman, was not injured.
Officers are investigating to determine what caused this accident that killed two young boys. They are looking into the possibility that an unsafe lane change may have triggered the fatal accident. According to California Vehicle Code Section 21658(a), "Whenever a roadway has been divided into two or more clearly marked lanes for traffic in one direction the vehicle shall be driven as nearly as practical entirely within a single lane and shall not be moved from the lane until such movement can be made with reasonable safety."
The families would be well advised to contact an experienced San Bernardino Personal Injury attorney who will investigate the case and make sure that their legal rights are protected.
