Those traveling on Interstate 15 near Devore were late getting home when rush-hour traffic was backed up for more than 10 miles due to a big-rig overturning and spilling approximately 24,000 pounds of asphalt across the freeway.
The big-rig driver was not hurt; he managed to drive the tractor part of the semi off the freeway. No other vehicles were involved.
It took clean-up crews more than four hours to clean up the spill and reopen traffic lanes.
The accident is under investigation to determine what caused the driver to lose control of his vehicle. There are many questions that need to be answered: Was the driver speeding? Was he fatigued? Was there something in the road?
