A driver lost control of his SUV while traveling on a freeway, causing the vehicle to hit an asphalt curb, roll twice and fall through a space between a bridge and about 35 feet onto the street below.
Witnesses told police that it looked like the driver had a problem with one of his tires because tire debris was flying off the vehicle before it rolled. Reports indicate that a man, woman and 11-year old girl died at the scene. Another man, who was taken to a local hospital, died later. In addition, a woman and a 6-year old girl were thrown from the SUV before it fell off the freeway. They were taken to a local hospital as well and remain there.
The accident is under investigation. It is believed that this fatal accident happened as a result of a blown tire. Investigators need to determine if the tire was defective or badly designed, causing the roll over. If it is determined that the accident occurred because of a defective tire, it would be wise for the families of the victims to contact a San Bernardino Personal Injury attorney who has been successful in product liability cases and will hold the tire manufacturer liable for their injuries and expenses.
