San Bernardino County Fire officials reported that they closed Highway 38 in both directions on Sunday morning after a tanker truck overturned and spilled about 10,000 gallons of propane. The Highway was expected to remain closed until nighttime.
Investigators stated that for unknown reasons the driver lost control and caused the huge tanker to flip onto its side. Because of the potential for fire to erupt in the surrounding forest area, Hazmat teams were called in to clean up the spill. Officials continue to investigate to determine the cause of the accident.
The driver was able to get out of the truck safely. Although a big mess incurred, there were no other injuries involved.
