A 45-year old Crestline driver, who was reportedly drunk, struck and killed a 30-year old pedestrian over the weekend. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Reports indicate that the driver lost control of her vehicle when she let it drift onto the shoulder of the road where the pedestrian was walking. It is unclear why the man was walking on the side of the road at 4:00 a.m.
Officers are investigating to determine what caused the driver to veer onto the shoulder, but they believe alcohol played a part in the fatal accident. California Vehicle Code Section 23152(a) states, "It is unlawful for any person who is under the influence of any alcoholic beverage or drug, or under the combined influence of any alcoholic beverage and drug, to drive a vehicle.
The family of a person who has been killed as a result of another person's negligence has the right to file a wrongful death lawsuit seeking damages for his or her loss.
