Five men between the ages of 20 and 23 were killed in Ontario when the driver of the vehicle lost control and smashed through a church fence. The vehicle stopped in the backyard of a private home - under a porch. The residents were home, but no injuries were reported. The impact caused glass from the vehicle to be thrown onto the home's roof.
According to friends, the five men were heading home after partying in Corona. When police officers arrived they found four men dead inside the vehicle. One was taken to a nearby hospital where he died shortly after.
The fatal accident is under investigation. Police believe the driver was speeding but are not sure whether or not alcohol was a factor. If it is determined that the driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the fatal accident, his family could be held liable for the deaths of the four men with him. California Vehicle Code Section 23153 states that it is unlawful for a driver to drive while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
