Sunday was a bad traveling day for those driving on Highway 330 between Running Springs and San Bernardino. The road was closed for two hours as a result of an accident involving six vehicles.
The accident, which happened in the middle of the afternoon, occurred after a 60-year old driver attempted to pass the vehicle in front of her, even though passing was not allowed in that particular area. The maneuver caused her to collide with three oncoming vehicles, causing the first vehicle to strike two other vehicles. San Bernardino City Fire Department officials reported that seven of the 13 people involved were taken to nearby hospitals and one victim had to be freed with the Jaws of Life after the vehicle's roof was removed. One victim complained of pain in his back, neck and eyes, which may have been caused by the deployment of an air bag.
The accident is under investigation.
