According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, a 20-year old man and 18-year old woman, while attempting to be good Samaritans, were seriously injured when they stopped to help an accident victim and were hit by a passing car.
The two heard the crash from their nearby home and rushed to see if they can help the victims. They were heading back home after the officers arrived when they were hit and thrown to the ground by the passing car. The young couple sufferedmajor head trauma and other serious injuries and were taken by air to a nearby trauma center for treatment.
When Victorville deputies arrived at the scene in the early morning hours, they found a single vehicle that had flipped over; the driver was trapped inside. The passing vehicle immediately stopped and the driver cooperated with the officers. The accident is under investigation to determine why the driver apparently did not see the two people that he hit. Questions are being asked, such as, "Was alcohol and/or drugs a factor?"
