A 13-year old boy riding with his mother late the other night was killed when a pickup truck broadsided their car and then fled the scene.
The impact caused the vehicle to crash into a carport, causing the carport to partially collapse and the vehicle to catch on fire. Police were able to put out the fire with fire extinguishers. The mother sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
An investigation is underway to determine why the truck driver broadsided the other vehicle and killed a young boy. It is not known if alcohol or drugs were a factor. Police were able to locate the 21-year old truck driver and arrested him at his home on suspicion of felony hit-and-run.
I hope the family of the victim contacts an experienced San Bernardino Personal Injury attorney who will investigate their case to determine if they can file a wrongful death lawsuit and be compensated for their expenses and pain and suffering.
