The case against the National Football League (NFL) concerning concussions suffered by football players was filed more than a year ago. There has also been two wrongful death lawsuits filed on behalf of former player Junior Seau that have been consolidated with this class-action concussion litigation.
The NFL is accused of profiting off of these players and the violent aspects of the game while remaining indifferent to the injuries suffered by the players. The NFL has already attempted to dismiss attempts to sue them for these sorts of injuries by claiming that a collective bargaining agreement left the medical decisions regarding players in the hands of individual teams.
These cases are not easy to bring, however. The NFL is just one of many organizations with tremendous financial resources on hand. Though attorneys representing the players can expect the NFL to raise a variety of defenses, the league may nevertheless be held liable for what has occurred.
