The worst news a parent can hear is that their children were involved in a terrible car accident that cost them their lives. In Newport a car split in half when it hit a tree, the vehicle caught fire with three females and two males inside- they were all killed.
According to Newport Beach police, the sedan veered off the road in the early evening hours and hit a tree. The impact split the car in half and caused it to catch on fire. It took teams about 12 hours to investigate the scene. They believe speed was a factor in this fatal crash.
It was reported that four people were thrown from the car and died immediately, while the fifth was declared dead later at a local hospital. The accident was so horrific that fingerprints were used to identify the passengers. Two of the girls were sisters.
No other vehicles were involved.
I would like to offer my deepest condolences to the families and friends of these young victims during this tragic time.
