A 36-year old man died the other day after he was involved in a multiple-vehicle accident while driving the wrong way on Interstate 15 in Riverside County.
Reports indicate that the man was driving north on the southbound side of the freeway in the early morning hours when his Honda CRV collided with a Honda Accord. The impact flipped his vehicle in front of an oncoming big-rig truck, causing him to be ejected. He was pronounced dead soon after.
According to the California Highway Patrol, two other people were injured. A 20-year old woman was standing outside a U-Haul truck on the shoulder of the freeway with two other vehicles. When the semi-tractor crashed into the overturned CRV, it spun clockwise and hit the woman. She was taken to a nearby hospital with major injuries.
The 58-year old Accord driver was treated for minor injuries at the scene. The two other vehicles on the side of the road were damaged by flying debris.
The accident is under investigation to determine if alcohol and/or drugs were involved.
My sincere condolences go out to the family of the victims. I wish the injured victims a speedy and complete recovery as well.
