State Highway 18 was the scene of several accidents this past week when fog rolled into the Lake Arrowhead community. The first accident was a head-on collision between a passenger vehicle and a pickup truck at the beginning of the week. The impact caused the truck to go over the guardrail and flip on its side; it did not go down the hillside. The passengers were trapped briefly. The highway lanes were blocked while emergency crews cleaned up the debris.
Once that accident was cleared away, another one occurred. A car coming around the bend crashed into the car in front of it causing a chain reaction with other cars. An individual was hurt and taken to a local hospital for moderate injuries.
These and other accidents this week were caused due to fog and bad visibility on the roads. The accidents resulted in minor injuries, smashed trucks and cars and very tired law enforcement officers and tow truck drivers.
