Dangerous mountain roads claims one life

Bad weather these past few weeks made San Bernardino mountain roads dangerous and fatal for motorists.

California Highway Patrol reported that a 27-year old Crestline man was the victim of an accident that occurred on southbound Highway 18. He was driving at about 60 mph when he crossed over the divider into oncoming traffic, hitting the front of a vehicle driven by a 22-year old woman from Yucaipa.

The 27-year old driver was killed immediately. The Yucaipa woman was taken by air to a nearby hospital and treated with moderate to severe injuries. Emergency personnel were on the scene and a clean-up crew tended to road closure and clean-up, which took several hours.

California Highway Patrol officers are investigating the fatal accident to determine what caused the driver to cross over the divider.
