Swimming pool accidents

With summer right around the corner, swimming pools in San Bernardino County will once again come alive with activity and the inevitable swimming pool tragedies. Summertime is when families spend hours and hours in and around swimming pools. Statistics show that hundreds of people drown every year in the United States. Drowning is the second leading cause of accidental injury-related death among children ages 1 to 14.

Fatal bus crash in San Bernardino Mountains

What was supposed to be a fun three-day church mountain retreat for over 20 students from Pasadena turned into a nightmare for the group. The bus carrying the students and heading home, collided with an SUV, causing the bus to crash into a power pole and end up in a snowy ravine. The impact caused the seats to come loose and send all the passengers to the front of the bus. Some students were trapped under other students or under the loose seats. The SUV was driven by an off-duty San Bernardino County fireman.

BMW flips over killing 4 people

Four young adults traveling on the eastbound Interstate 10 were killed early the other morning when the BMW they were in overturned and slammed into a freeway post. The vehicle was transitioning onto the northbound Interstate 215 when it hit the pole. A California Highway Patrol officer said the car "was almost sheared in half, wrapped around the pole."

Bicycle safety

With spring and summer approaching, more and more people are outside riding their bicycles. Bicycle safety involves more than wearing the proper equipment, such as a helmet. It also involves knowing and abiding by the rules of the road.

Inspector injured by trailer

A truck towing a trailer stopped at the Yermo agricultural inspection station to be inspected. A woman inspector had just finished inspecting the truck and gave permission for it to move on.

Trial for bicyclist's death to begin

It was just about a year ago when a Toyota driver, fleeing from a car burglary in San Bernardino, crashed into a 19-year old bicyclist killing him and critically injuring his 15-year old brother? Well, it is back in the news. The man also attempted to steal a car stereo from a vehicle when he returned a DVD but the owner came out.

Windy conditions cause rollover accidents

Southern California has been experiencing more windy days than normal this season. Because of these conditions, it was reported that as many as five big-rigs overturned on San Bernardino Freeways in a period of three hours. It was a hectic time for motorists and emergency personnel.

Truck goes over the side of the freeway

California Highway Patrol reported that a pickup truck was forced over the side of the San Bernardino Freeway where it meets the Orange Freeway in Pomona. They believe it was a hit-and-run collision.

Hit-and-run suspect steps forward

A 46-year old Chino Hills woman was hit by a hit-and-run driver in a pickup truck the other morning as she stepped off the curb. Although the 63-year old driver tried to avoid hitting the woman, he did not. Instead of stopping, he fled the scene.

Trailer kills woman

Did you hear about the woman in Palm Springs who was driving along Indian Canyon Drive when a utility trailer on the electrical truck ahead of her detached itself and crashed into her? By the time police arrived on the scene, the woman was pronounced dead.

Head-on collision kills two motorists

A 28-year old Bloomington man was recently driving south on Cedar when for no apparent reason, he drove into the northbound lanes. It has not been determined how fast he was traveling. A 52-year old woman in the northbound lanes hit the man head-on.

Pedestrian/Car accidents

For those of you walking in town or to school, please remember that if you cross in a crosswalk, look both ways. Pedestriansare required to exercise caution before entering a crosswalk or any road. Do not think a car will stop just because it should or because the light is green. 

Two injured in Victorville car accident

Did you hear about the two people traveling on Highway 395 the other day that got hit by an SUV at an intersection? The woman in the SUV was making a left-hand turn when it found its way in the path of the smaller vehicle, a Toyota. The two collided and the two people in the Toyota were injured. 

Man dies in a head-on collision in Big Bear

A head-on collision on a Big Bear Lake mountain road claimed the lives of two men recently. A 65-year old man driving a Toyota was heading up Highway 38 while a 45-year old man driving a pickup truck was going the other way. It is not known why, but the man heading up the highway veered into the other lane and collided head-on with the 45-year old.
