Student killed in hit-and-run accident

According to the San Bernardino County Coroner's office, a 17-year old student from Twenty-nine Palms was riding his off-road motorcycle recently when he was hit broadside by a vehicle that did not stop to help him - the driver fled the scene.

California Vehicle Code 20001 states, "The driver of any vehicle involved in an accident resulting in injury to any person, other than himself or herself, or in the death of any person shall immediately stop the vehicle at the scene of the accident."

It continues in part with, "A person who flees the scene of the crime after committing a violation, upon conviction, shall be punished with imprisonment in the state prison."

Paramedics who responded to the accident pronounced the young boy dead at the scene. The fatal accident is under investigation by the Major Accident Investigation Team in San Bernardino County. They are asking anyone with information about this tragic accident to please contact them.

I am hoping that the driver of the motor vehicle that killed this student is found and apprehended accordingly. I also hope that the family of the young victim contacts an experienced Personal Injury attorney in San Bernardino County to investigate for them.
