Coast guards looking for drunken boaters

Those of you out in the ocean this past weekend enjoying the beautiful weather might have seen the coast guard's boat patrolling.

California and Federal marine law enforcement officers were out looking for boaters who may have had too much to drink. They were prepared to give possible drunken boaters a breathalyzer test and some boater education materials. In California, boating under the influence of alcohol is a crime which carries severe penalties that include jail and fines.

If a boater was caught with a blood alcohol level of more than the legal limit of 0.08%, they will face severe penalties. The end of June begins the boating season. Alcohol is more hazardous on the water than on land - the motion, engine noise and vibration accelerate a drinker's impairment.

Last year, more than 300 arrests were made to boaters under the influence and over 4,000 citations were handed out. If you are facing a charge of boating while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, you are facing serious consequences. I suggest you contact an experienced San Bernardino Personal Injury attorney who has been successful in defending these types of cases.
