A 21-year old woman and her front passenger, a 23-year old man on their way to Arizona to visit family and friends were killed around midnight the other night near the city of Needles, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The vehicle was traveling east on Interstate 40 when there was a problem with one of the tires, causing the vehicle to drift off the right shoulder. The car flipped over several times and ended up in the wash on the side of the road - causing the two in the front to be thrown from the vehicle - neither was wearing seat belts.
The two in the front were pronounced dead at the scene. The two passengers in the back seat sustained minor injuries and were taken to a local hospital.
