It was a horrific scene in Victorville a few nights ago. A 20-year old pregnant woman was killed while her 17-month old daughter sustained minor injuries.
The woman was walking on a road in Victorville when she and her daughter, who was in a stroller, were hit by a truck from behind - the vehicle never stopped; it fled the scene. The child was thrown from the stroller. It is unknown why she was walking at 10:30 p.m.
The young woman was five months pregnant. Paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene. The young child was treated at a local hospital and released to her father. Apparently the woman was speaking to her boyfriend on a cell phone, the child's father, when they were hit.
Authorities are asking any witnesses to come forward. They said the truck will have damage to the right front and will be missing a mirror on the passenger's side.
California Vehicle Code 20001 requires all drivers involved in an accident where someone was injured or killed to stop their vehicle immediately.
I urge them to seek the help of an experienced San Bernardino Personal Injury attorney in filing a wrongful death lawsuit against the driver when he is caught and arrested.
