Man crashes into a metal pole

A 68-year old San Bernardino man was killed when he swerved off Interstate 210 in Rancho Cucamonga and hit a metal pole - injuring his 14-year old passenger was injured. The pole fell into the traffic lanes and triggered a SigAlert.

Reports indicate that he was driving out of the carpool lane and crossing the other traffic lanes when he overturned across the shoulder of the freeway, landing on the roof. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The young girl was taken to a local hospital where she was treated for injuries.

California Highway Patrol officers are investigating to determine why this fatal accident occurred.
