Watch out for motorcycles

A study by the Office of Traffic Safety found that about 50% of all drivers are not aware that lane splitting by motorcycle riders is legal in California.  The month of May has been made, "Motorcycle Awareness Safety Month" in order to call attention the dangers that motorcyclists face while on the road.

Statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration state that motorcyclists are 25 times more likely to die in an accident than passenger car occupants and are 5 times more likely to suffer an injury.

The following are some basic safety measures for a motorcyclist to take while on the road:

·     Always wear a helmet

·     Do not ride drunk

·     Never assume that a passenger car driver sees you

A motorcyclist has the same rights as any other driver on the road.  If you are injured because of another person's negligent actions, contact an experienced San Bernardino Personal Injury attorney who will help you receive compensation for your damages and medical expenses.
