Pool accidents

Now that the warm weather is here and school is out for most children, the swimming pool has become the center of attention for most. The swimming pool can bring enjoyment and fun for the entire family; however, it can also bring tragedy to others.

A 6-year old girl died recently when she was found in a pool drowning after her 5-year old playmate came into the house soaking wet. Even though there was a fence around the pool, it appeared to be damaged. Where were the adults? Who was supervising these children? An investigation is underway.

Did you know that according to the U. S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, about ten people die every day in this country from unintentional drowning - two of these are usually children under the age of 14?

California law requires all private swimming pool owners to have drowning prevention safety features on their property, such as a fence that is not damaged. If the investigation determines that the child died because of a defective pool fence, the property owner can be held liable for the child's death.

If your child was injured, or worse, died in a pool accident because of the negligence of another person, contact an experienced San Bernardino Personal Injury attorney who will make sure your legal rights and interests are protected.
