Celebrity Russell Brand Is Being Sued for Allegedly Running Over a Pedestrian with his Car

British comedian Russell Brand is being sued for running over a pedestrian with his car in an accident that transpired in January 2012. TMZ reports that Victor Sneed is asking for $185,000 in damages in a new lawsuit filed against the actor, citing bodily injuries to his hand, arm and hip after a run-in with Brand on Los Angeles' Olympic Boulevard.

In court documents obtained exclusively by E! News, the British funnyman contends that any run-in was the result of the plaintiff's own negligence-and if he got hurt, it was the "direct, proximate and sole result" of his own "physical bodily condition and constitutional composition."

Victor Sneed sued Brand in October, alleging the star knocked into him with his car on Los Angeles' Olympic Boulevard the previous January. He's asking for Brand to cover medical expenses, lost wages and other damages.

Brand's camp states that Sneed was employed at the time of the accident and entitled to worker's compensation pursuant to California law-and that Brand shouldn't be held liable for any distress Sneed may have suffered in relation to his employment.

In documents filed in response to Brand's objections, Sneed stated that he will need approximately $140,000 for future surgeries and $45,000 for various other medical fees after the accident left him with an injured left hand, left arm, left hip, neck and wrist.

When a car collides with a pedestrian, there is high potential for serious injury. Drivers should take appropriate care in crowded areas and watch out for pedestrians who enter the roadway. In addition, pedestrians should follow the advice given to young children: Look both ways before attempting to cross the street.

If you are injured by a negligent driver while crossing the street, contact an experienced San Bernardino Personal Injury attorney who will focus on helping you receive compensation while holding negligent parties responsible for their actions so they cannot hurt other people.
